Teddy Shushenkov

Teddy was born in 1980. He graduated from M. Glinka Academy of music of Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia, majoring in domra. He studied under the tutelage of Professor B. Kuznetzov, an Honored Person of Arts of Russia. 2002-2005 Teddy teaches at Nizhniy Novgorod Academy of music. Since 2005 Teddy became chief manager of symphonic orchestra by Philharmonic Society by named after M. Rostropovich in Nizhniy Novgorod. Since 2007 Teddy teaches at Bat Yam Conservatory in Israel.

Teddy has participated in many International and All-Russian festivals. He is a laureate and diploma recipient of several International and All-Russian competitions,       such  as:
Laureate of the 1st International Music Competition “Classica Nova” in memory of Dmitrii Shostakovich in Hanover, Germany (1st prize, 1997); Laureate of the 3rd International Competition of Folk Instruments “North Cup” in Cherepovetz, Russia (3rd prize, 1997); Laureate of the 1st Shenderev International Competition of Folk Instruments in Vladivostok, Russia (1st prize, 1997); Laureate of International Festival-Competition of Picked Instruments “The Pearl of Povolzhie” in Samara, Russia (grand prize, 2001); Laureate of International Competition “ Professor and Student” in Moscow, Russia (2nd prize, 2002); Diploma Recipient of the 6th All-Russian Competition of Folk Instruments in Tver, Moscow (2001); Diploma Recipient of the 1st Zhinovich International Competition of Folk Instruments in Minsk, Belarus (2002).

Teddy has an active concert schedule. He has performed with Russian National Folk Osipov Orchestra, Ural State Russian Orchestra, Krasnoyarsk Russian Orchestra, Ulyanovsk State Folk Orchestra, Kostroma Municipal Symphony Orchestra, Nizhniy Novgorod State Russian Folk Orchestra and Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra.

Teddy has performed solo concerts both in Israel and abroad (Russia, German, Italy, France ).

In 1996 and 1997 Teddy has become a scholarship recipient of “New Names” program. In 1998 he has become a scholarship recipient of “Young Talents of Russia” program in Moscow. In 2001 Teddy has been awarded A. Pushkin scholarship. He has also been a recipient of a special scholarship of President of Russian Federation in 2003 and 2004.

Teddy has recorded a few CDs of his performances.
